Sharing the Hate, Spreading the Pain: On Egos and Sado-Masochism

Posted by LeoCain on September 20th, 2007

The trouble with egos is they tend to get out of hand. The first problem arises when people elevate themselves to a level of importance greater than an insect. The second problem is when the immediate circle of friends feed into the lies created by that person. When problem one meets problem two the ego develops, or an ant colony is formed.

From there, stupidity and arrogance will fuel it, and blind ignorance will keep the ego aflame. By the time this article posts two strong bridges made over the summer will be nothing more than forgotten ash and charred cinders. Consider this passage a eulogy to the damaging effect of egos, and a tribute to those unnamed individuals. (more…)

Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat

I find myself shopping at Wal-Mart all too often these days. Unfortunately its just convenient. One particular evening, as I was browsing their beer selection, I wanted Guinness in a can but they only had bottles on hand. The bottles usually taste sour, the cans, for some reason, always taste better to me. So I continued to browse their interesting selection, when I came across Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat. Sharing the Hate, Spreading the Pain: On Advertising

Posted by LeoCain on September 13th, 2007

The best part about having a gopher tortoise for an avatar is no one knows what I look like. The best part about having my logo plastered on thousands of flyers is that no one knows what I sound like. However, having a station that no one has heard of means that no one takes me seriously when I approach their band about being on the radio shows. The answer to that problem is to increase brand awareness and increase the perception of the station out in the general populace. (more…)

After being channeled through Long Beach’s 1932 Summer Olympics traffic circle, I must have mistakenly picked the turnoff for aquatic events, but gracelessly pulled myself out of the time warp, ending up at DiPiazza’s in Long Beach in time to check out the anticipated ‘Pensive’ CD Release Party #1 (the LA County edition).

‘Pensive’, a nationally known and quality four-piece rock band from San Diego, were releasing a new full length entitled ‘Artifacts’ on their LA CD release leg, the main purpose of my visit this evening. They happened to be one of many bands on a lineup catering to an all ages crowd. A few groups performing at DiPiazzas this evening: ‘The City Drive’, ‘Uh Oh! Explosion’, ‘Nextdoor’ and a local new wave stylized group, ‘Mighty 690′. (more…)
