Why we chose: Balkan Beat Box - These guys transcend borders, and have recorded with people in countries all over the Mediterranean. Their first album is a tremendous collection of music.
Counterfeit Gypsies - After listening to 4 hours of hardcore music for my upcoming hardcore show I saw a friend request from a Happy Hardcore band called the Counterfeit Gypsies. Now, imagine with me if you would, 4 hours of face grinding music, and then their bright, cheerful, flashy website pops up and that music starts playing. After five minutes of constant laughing I hounded Dannie for about 48 hours to get them to submit a song. I want to share their music with the world. It’s awesome, but not Hardcore.
Wedgepiece - I’ve never collected stamps before, but I collect fortune cookie fortunes. Fortunes are about the size of stamps, only I don’t have to worry about them sticking to my hands. After listening to the refrain of “strike while the iron was hot,” I realized that I don’t own an iron, and I’m glad that I have polyester shirts. Alas, I forget where I was going with this passage. Scot, thank you for making me realize I need to do laundry.
Noted Corrections:
We apologize for mispronouncing Roppongi so many times in the episode. Next time, I need to read it as 六本木 [ロポッンギ]

To continue last weeks topic of using Google apps, I am going to touch on some important subjects of organization.
These tips do not only apply to show production, but for anyone who receives email, wants to organize your music collection, or wants to produce a podcast/internet show. Google apps are used, but whatever email client, or Office Suite you use will work as well.
Reclaim your venues. Locals and independents have let corporate WAAA and Satellite into their local nights for far too long. Where is your own custom change over music? Where is your independent label compilation CD? Where is a mixed CD of several local bands promoting local music on and off stage? You complain no one has ever heard of you, and you do not try to have venues play your music when you are not there.
Nationals control every aspect of their show from sound check until their roadie team locks the trailer, and you should too. Start with the elements you have the most control over, which are your stage show, and the music played in the venue.
I was looking through some photos from a recent trip and I came across one of tree with the image of the Virgin Mary naked, one of a rock that was bleeding an image of Jason Evangelho (sans bandanna) and this one. Imagine my shock and horror.
To support a local indie showcase. Did you really need to ask?
Jono Bacon - This was David’s pick since he wasn’t at this show. And neither was Jono! This track was from Jono’s 24hr marathon recording session, to produce a creative commons album as a sponsored event for the Comic Relief charity. He managed to raise over £1300, and plans to sell the cds for further donations.
